Though it is a brand new organized entity, the NCI Hawaii Team have worked in the non-profit sector for several years
Meet our Founder
Mahealani Keo, founder and CEO, Kanaka maoli, Samoan, and of other ethnic ancestry, was born and raised in the small town of Hauʻula, on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. Born to service-oriented parents, in a humble home, her parents taught her the true nature of service to others, always giving or doing service for others without expectations. This lesson would become the foundation of her adult life. Most of her career was in the Food & Beverage, and Hospitality industry. The kuleana to her parents is what ultimately brought her back home to Hauʻula. Over the past 10 years she spent her time as a caregiver and provided volunteer service to the youth of the Koʻolauloa community. In recent years, she has dedicated her time to building several businesses and working with the Hawaii Land Trust (HILT) to protect and preserve the Maunawila Heiau Complex. Under HILT, Mahealani has helped create and administer several work/educational programs to serve the youth and young adults in the Koʻolauloa area.
Our Vision
Mahealani dreams of a hometown full of abundance. She is dedicated to help empower, inspire, and provide educational resources to help the people of Hawaiʻi reach their highest potential, especially the Koʻolauloa communities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower and build youth, leaders, and communities by fostering growth in health, cultural, economic, and intellectual realms, with a particular focus on individuals of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island lineage in underserved areas. Central to this mission is our commitment to connecting deeply with culture, ensuring that our programs honor and perpetuate Hawaiian traditions, values, and practices. We achieve this through three pillars rooted in Hawaiian values:
EHUOLA: Promoting Health and Well-being - We prioritize well-being through intentional movement and health initiatives, deeply rooted in Hawaiian culture. Our approach fosters holistic health that nurtures physical, mental, and spiritual wellness while strengthening community ties and empowering individuals.
WAIOLA: Building Prosperity – We nurture wealth by empowering cultural practitioners and building community members to become stewards of our culture, elevating their economic opportunities while preserving the history, customs, arts, and traditions of our Native Hawaiian culture. By equipping future generations with resources and tools, we ensure abundance through various means.
KAHU-A-OLA: Preserving Hawaiian Culture and Resources – We steward and perpetuate Hawaiian culture, ensuring that our history, customs, and traditions are woven into the fabric of our community. By nurturing our ʻāina (food sources) and natural resources, we aim to benefit both present and future generations, fostering a lasting prosperity deeply rooted in our cultural identity.
Our Core Values
Empower. Inspire. Educate. Take Massive Action. Work Hard. Have fun.
