Kahuāola Preserve & Perpetuate as stewards of this ʻāina
Nurture and cultivate our culture, ʻāina, and the natural resources that provide for our community.
The objective of this program is to educate our kaiāulu (community) about our depleting natural resources and watershed through mālama ʻāina, caring for the land through cultural, ʻāina, and sustainability based education. This program encompasses the traditional land division of an ahupuaʻa. Reinvigorating the Koʻolauloa community, specifically the next generation, with love for the cultural, spiritual, and environmental elements of their ahupuaʻa is the long term community goal. Through the unique curriculum that was developed for this program, the expectation is to be able to reconnect the community with the natural environment, traditional Hawaiian cultural sites and practices, and share ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) in Koʻolauloa.
The program content is guided by Hawaiian practitioners and ʻĀina stewards with community lead members of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island people.
